Project Description
Description of Project: 7,000 sq ft sand and salt storage building with heated bulk sand storage space, heated bulk salt storage space, a liquid potassium deicing tank system, and cold storage space for salt spreader boxes suspended from the ceiling.
The customer came to us for a building that would provide them with: Public bid.
The design needed to include: Design/Build of the building to meet performance spec. F Foundation system consisted of poured concrete and epoxy coated rebar.
Additional critical requirements: 32’ clear ceiling height, standing seam metal roofing, closed cell spray foam building insulation, oversized rolling steel doors, a complete potassium deicing tank system with 2) 3,000 gallon tanks and related equipment, and many other specific requirements.
We designed the building to the customer’s specs with the following features, including:
Dimensions: 70’W x 100’L x 32’H with spaces for sand storage, salt storage, and cold storage of equipment
Framing – Project specific designed post-frame building structure to resist the weight of the salt pile, as well as the local snow and wind loads. Pre-engineered clear span roof trusses to meet the interior space requirements for bulk storage of sand and salt, as well as suspended load requirements of the spreader boxes in the cold storage space. Used wet set Sturdi-wall brackets to connect building to the concrete foundation system.
Interior space – Thirty-two feet minimum vertical clearance to the bottom of framing for at least one third the interior floor area (center 20’) of the structure and continuing the full length. 10’ high interior barrier wall constructed of poured concrete with a 4” painted yellow salt storage limit line around perimeter of interior located at 8’ high.
Roof system – Fabral 1-1/2” SSR 24ga standing seam roof system that combines a 1-1/2-inch tall slim rib with exceptional uplift resistance. Roofing color blue.
Exterior wall construction – Fabral Mighti-rib 26ga exposed fastener siding system. Siding color blue.
Exterior doors – Oversized Wayne-Dalton Thermotite 800C Series insulated rolling steel doors.
